Subam Rabha Earns Assam’s First AFC-A Licence

GUWAHATI: The Asian Football Confederation's second-highest level of coaching certification, the AFC A licence, has been earned by Subam Rabha.

Subam, who served as the reserve team coach and grassroots coordinator for ISL team NorthEast United FC, is overjoyed by the news.

“I've been working hard for a while, so this is a beautiful time for my family and well-wishers as well as me. I'm content and inspired to give my all in the days ahead in order to accomplish my next objective," he said.

In this course, coaches will learn about tactical and technical requirements, leadership traits, management, player identification, and educating the physiological and psychological needs of players.

The outcome was made public on Friday.

The 29-year-old Subam will now qualify for the positions of head coach of any I League team, the second-tier league in India, and assistant coach of any ISL squad.

At the age of 26 in 2020, Subam was the youngest coach from Assam to receive an AFC B licence.

Following that, he was given the chance to lead NorthEast United FC in the Durand Cup and Bordoloi Trophy.

He expresses gratitude to Khalid Jamil, the former head coach of the Guwahati-based NorthEast United FC.

"I'm really appreciative of the NEUFC's ongoing assistance and the possibilities they have provided me with throughout the years. These encounters helped me develop as a coach and comprehend the subtler nuances of the trade. Khalid Jamil Sir, you have my gratitude for your counsel and direction”, Subam added.

“When I needed to ask him a question, he would always answer the phone. On my path, he has been a huge help," Subam mentioned.

There were 24 people from all over India in Subam's batch for the All India Football Federation course, which was held in Mumbai. Among them were some well-known athletes like Jose Barretto, Paresh Shivalkar, Vijith Shetty, Ranjan Bhattacherjee, and Remus Gomes. 15 of them have finished the course.

Subam is now working on earning his AFC Pro License, the top coaching credential offered by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
