Subdivisional Officer (Civil) Aditya Vikram Yadav convened a meeting in the conference hall of his office on Friday to discuss the ways and means to stop COVID-19 from spreading among tea garden workers and labourers in view of the rising COVID-19 positive cases in the tea estates of Gohpur subdivision in Biswanath district.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Subdivisional Officer (Civil) Aditya Vikram Yadav convened a meeting in the conference hall of his office on Friday to discuss the ways and means to stop COVID-19 from spreading among tea garden workers and labourers in view of the rising COVID-19 positive cases in the tea estates of Gohpur subdivision in Biswanath district.

Along with all the Executive Magistrates of the subdivision, SDPO, SDMO, other officials from Health Department, OCs, all tea estate managers and officials from various other departments were present. The SDO (C) requested the management to take all the necessary steps and stressed early measures to contain the disease in those areas. He further warned that if the situation deteriorated in the near future, extreme steps such as shutting down of the tea gardens might be taken. Also, cooperation from all department officials i.e. police, health and excise was requested in controlling the rapid spread of the virus while enforcing strict COVID-19 protocol in the tea garden areas.

On the other hand, the first meeting of Gohpur LAC Containment Zone and Home Isolation Management Committee was also held at the conference hall of SDO(Civil) Office, Gohpur. The meeting was chaired by Gohpur MLA-cum-chairman of the committee, Utpal Borah in the presence of SDO(Civil), Gohpur- cum-Member-Secretary of the committee Aditya Vikram Yadav along with the Executive Magistrates, BDOs, SDMO, BPM, OCs, FCS and PHE officials.

The meeting aimed at strengthening surveillance system to tackle COVID-19 as early as possible. More mass testing (RAT/RTPCR) and mass vaccination were emphasized. Community surveillance to control the spread of corona and other communicable diseases was stressed upon. Further, the problems faced by the medical personnel as well as the administration were brought up in the meeting and smooth functioning of containment zones, home isolation with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocol and smooth delivery system of providing relief to the people within containment zones on time were thoroughly discussed.
