
Guwahati: Assam has now joined the other Indian states in using innovative technology to curb plastic wasteland pollution while building durable roads and Barpeta district is now the one to lead this initiative.
CM Himanta Biswasarma made this announcement through his X account, highlighting the fact that 1.8 tons of recycled plastic waste used to make this road
The entire road was laid by mixing recycled plastic waste with bitumen. Officials have said that this process not only improves road durability but also offers a practical solution to the global issue of plastic waste to promote sustainable infrastructure and stop one time use of plastic. The CM also shared visuals of the process, from the segregation of plastic to melting and mixing, and finally its transformation into material for road-building and the laying of the road.
