NAGAON: The 2022 Sur Ratna Yajna Bezbaruah Award was formally presented to eminent Radio artist, Gaurav Digen Mahanta of Nagaon, at an event in Nagaon attended by eminent artists, litterateurs of Nagaon and artistically inclined admirers as well as several personalities from Guwahati and Tinsukia.

The 84th birth anniversary of the late Jajna Bezbaruah Dev of Surratna was beautifully celebrated in association with the initiative and sur-ratna family of 'Gandhara', a leading socio-cultural event in Nagaon. The event was celebrated with pomp and show at the auditorium of Sangeet Shilpi Manch, Nagaon.

Minati Bezbaruah, the wife of Surratna, lit the lamp to begin with the ceremony, while the cultural programme began with a song by vocalist Tutumani Bora. One of the creations of Sur Ratna was performed by the students of Gandhara Music School. Also another song with his unique melodies had a beautiful dance performance by Gandhara students.

Prominent tabla player Tonkeshwar Baidya, a prominent violinist Tarini Mohan Sharma and eminent film editor and photojournalist Mukut Chandra Bhuiyan were also felicitated by the organizers.

Eminent composer, music producer Bipul Barua, Cultural Development Officer Gobinda Baishya and artist couple of Duliajan Partha Pratim Dutta and Binapani Dutta were also felicitated on the occasion. People who get close to sur ratnas through a programme titled Romanthan get a bit emotional remembering the days of the past.

Several timeless songs of Yajna Bezbaruah Dev were performed by various talented artists like Arif ul Haq, Mrigen Das, Nilotpal Gayan, Deepshikha Bordoloi, Rimli Sharma Bora, Partha Pratim Dutta, Nikhil Baruah, Riturani Moushumi, Santosh Kalita, Pallavi Sharma, Birinchi Bora and Mandeep Mahanta.

The lyrical video of a song called " jiwanor bate bate" was also officially unveiled here which was prepared by Mumbai-based singer Rita Bora Adhikari, a well-known singer from Nagaon.
