DOOMDOOMA: One suspected COVID-19 case was reported at Doomdooma as a 12-year old boy named Ayush Aich died at the entrance of the Doomdooma 30-bedded FRU on Thursday.

According to report, he was brought to the hospital for treatment as he was suffering from chicken pox and fever. When contacted, the in-charge of the hospital, Dr Ranjit Das said that Ayush Aich (12), son of Krishna Aich of Kalimandir area, Barhapjan, was brought dead to the hospital around 8. 20am on Thursday. Though doctors found him dead, yet family sources said that he was alive when taken to the hospital and died just at the entrance of the hospital gate.

However, according to the doctors, usually a patient does not die because of chicken pox or fever. So in view of the prevailing situation, the doctor on duty contacted the Joint Director (Health), Tinsukia and as per his advice, the medical staff of Tinsukia Civil Collection Centre collected the nasal swap sample of Ayush and sent it to the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Lahowal for COVID-19 test.
