Swachh Survekshan Grameen Launched in Baksa

GORESWAR: Baksa District Public Health Engineering Department launched the ‘ Swachh Survekshan Grameen ‘SSG 2019’ at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office recently. The campaign was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Baksa district.

Appreciating the efforts of the Public Health Engineering Department, ADC Mriganka Choudhury opined that the survey would be a positive step towards mass sensitization of the people in the district about sanitation. He also said that the survey would rank the villages based on key quantitative and qualitative Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) parameters like availability and usage of toilet and sanitary awareness in the villages.

Nirmal Nath, Assistant Executive Engineer of Mushalpur subdivision, said that the rural community would be engaged in the improvement of their sanitation status through an intensive and holistic campaign. He added that the campaign had been taken to the next level this year by focusing on Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) and plastic waste management.

Detsung Basumatary, district consultant, informed that an independent survey agency would conduct the survey in all villages, including public places, schools, Anganwadi centres, public health centres and market areas, and the results would be announced based on quantitative and qualitative sanitation parameters later. The inaugural programme was attended by Rabindra Muchahary, Project Director of DRDA, Dr Gunindra Nath Debasarma, Joint Health Director, and other dignitaries.
