Swahid Divas observed in memory of martyrs of 'Quit India Movement' at Gohpur

BISWANATH CHARIALI: 'Swahid Divas' observed in the memory of the martyrs of 'Quit India Movement, 1942' Kanaklata Baruah and Mukunda Kakati was held on Sunday at Barangabari under Gohpur sub-division in Biswanath district following COVID-19 protocols by the public and several organizations. Kalicharan Baruah, brother of Kanaklata Baruah, paid floral tributes to the martyrs at the graveyard of Kanaklata at Barangabari. Social worker Jadav Chaliha and others were present on the occasion. Gohpur MLA Utpal Borah paid tributes to the martyrs at Gohpur, Barangabari, Ghahigaon and Dhopabar. Gohpur Congress Committee, Kanaklata Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, Surabhi Sahitya Samaj etc also paid tributes to the martyrs. The day was also held at Swahid Mukunda Kakati High School, Halem with hoisting of the tricolour and floral tributes in front of the statue of Mukunda Kakati by teachers and students.
