Silchar: The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with all solemnity and serenity across Barak Valley by different social and cultural organisations, recalling the ideals and principles of the great saint and seer who always inspired the youths to become 'strong in mind and body, persons of character and integrity, knowledge and enlightenment' to lead the nation to take it again to the zenith of pride and glory for which Bharatvarsh was known to the world. Kanyakumari Vivekananda Kendra Karimganj celebrated the day in a different way, earning appreciation from people in general.
Vivekananda's dedication to the cause of the country would always remain a source of inspiration for all time to come. Karimganj Vivekananda Kendra also observed it as a day of self sacrifice and self renunciation. The great warrior-martyrs who laid down their lives for the independence of the country and liberated it were recollected with honour and that was also the dream of Swami Vivekananda. This is how former teacher MrinalKantiDutta, district president of Vivekananda Kendra Karimganj said.
AnjanGoswami, pradhanacharya, SaraswatiVidyaniketan, and Arup Roy, coordinator of the Kendra, too focused on the life and ideals of Vivekananda. Arup Roy said it is also the right occasion to pay our respect to the unaccounted heroes on the frontiers who are vigilant day and night, facing rough and cold weather for the protection of the integrity of the country.
The day long programme was enlivened by lighting of auspicious lamps, patriotic songs, discussion on great patriots. The function came to an end with the pledge by all to follow and inspire others to know Vivekananda and his ideals.
