TINSUKIA: The Rupai Masjid and its neighbourhood near Doomdooma in Tinsukia district have disassociated from any activities of Nizamuddin’s Tablighi Jammat and restricted entry of any its members within the premises of Rupai Masjid, announced Azizul Haq Choudhury, president of Rupai Masjid.

Accusing the Tablighi Jammat of being solely responsible in spreading the COVID-19 outbreak in Assam and elsewhere in India, Haq Choudhury informed that the Masjid Committee had strongly condemned the organization and called all Jammat attendees who are absconding or gone underground to surrender voluntarily before the health or government officials soon.

An educationist and retired Principal said the activists of the Tablighi Jammat, a society for spreading the Faith, were considered extremely orthodox in respect of dressing, personal behaviour and rituals. They are primarily involved in preaching activities without any scientific basis and believe in superstition and delusion. What is most concerning is that they recruit young boys, particularly college students, and put them for four months of religious training to equip them to preach the Tablighi message, said the Principal.
