LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Tai-Ahom Yuba Chatra Sanmilan will intensify stir against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), 2019 until the Act is scrapped.
The organization took this crucial decision in its executive meeting held on Sunday in North Lakhimpur town. As part of the series of this intensified stir, the organization will initiate mass demonstrations demanding the scrapping of the Act in front of the Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner’s office on December 27.
In addition to this decision, the executive meets the organization, chaired by its Lakhimpur unit president Joyjyoti Gogoi, who took several decisions on the social issues and organizational base too. Tai Academy chairperson Phanidhar Gogoi and assistant secretary of Asom Furalung Sangha Gobin Gogoi were also present in the executive meet.
The present joint secretary Dulu Lahon was made vice-president while Khirod Chetia was appointed as a joint secretary. On the other hand, Tai Academy decided to celebrate Me-Dam-Me-Phi centrally in Lakhimpur district.
