Tangla Officer-in-charge Durga Kinkor Sarmah transferred and posted as Circle Inspector

TANGLA: Ahead of the BTC council polls, police and district administration has beefed up security. In such an attempt there has been reshuffling in Assam Police. Officer-in-charge, Tangla Police Station, Durga Kinkor Sarmah has been transferred and posted as Circle Inspector, Batadraba while Circle Inspector, Batadraba, Someswar Konwar has been posted as Officer-in-charge, Tangla Police Station vide Assam police notification no. 93/20 and 94/20 signed by ADGP(Admin) H. Singh dated March 5 last. However, Konwar is yet to join and take charge of Tangla PS as Sarmah has not been relieved of his charges.

Democratic Voters Forum, a civil society group based in Tangla, has appealed to the government to undertake a major reshuffling in the police and administration in the four districts of BTC to ensure a free and fair election. President of the forum, Sailen Kumar Sarmah said, “It is often a common scene that administrative and police officials display soft corner towards ruling parties so we request the concerned officials to undertake a major reshuffling exercise in the entire Bodo belt so that the voters get an environment to exercise their franchise in a free and fair manner.
