Tangla Police solves Mrisanka Basumatari murder case

TANGLA, Sept 25: Tangla Police have solved the murder case of Mrisanka Basumatari, a BA first semester student of Tangla College at Pachim Nalbari area under Tangla PS on September 18. All five accused who were allegedly involved in the heinous act were apprehended from various locations of the State in the past two days. Reportedly, the deceased along with two of his friends had gone to the bank of Nonoi River to celebrate the end of their sessional examination when a verbal duel ensued between the students and the accused, identified as Biplob Ghosh alias Sanjay Ghosh (21), Pradip Barman (18), Dilip Das (22), Sanjay Das (19) and Bolo Ram Sarkar (22). The five accused brutally attacked the victim with bamboo poles and tree branches leading to his death.

Talking to this correspondent, Investigating Officer, SI Manik Bor Mudoi said, “The prime accused Pradip Barman was apprehended from Dharmanagar Railway Station area of North Tripura district in Tripura while three of his accomplices, who were hiding in Rangia area, were arrested based on inputs.” He further stated that Biplob Ghosh was apprehended from Udalguri area.

All the accused are reportedly daily wage earners. Meanwhile, Tangla Police vide Tangla police case no. 146/18 vide IPC 302/34 produced Biplob Ghosh before the court which forwarded him to judicial custody on Monday. The other accused were to be produced in the court and forwarded to judicial custody on Tuesday.
