Tea Seller's Son In Assam Cracks NEET In First Attempt, All Set To Join AIIMS-Delhi

GUWAHATI: A 24-year-old youth from Assam named Rahul Das has achieved his big dream of clearing the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) in his first attempt.

Rahul Das is a resident of the Patacharkuchi area located in the Balaji district of lower Assam.

Rahul will be soon joining the NEET undergraduate course at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in New Delhi.

During the initial stage of his life, Rahul used to run a small business selling tea in a roadside shop. He earned his living by selling tea along with his mother.

Rahul was very young when his father passed away and since then he was taken care of by his single mother.

Rahul had done his Higher Secondary course from Patacharkuchi Vidyapith HS School located close to his house in Patacharkuchi.

After passing HS he took admission to CIPET (Central Institute of Plastic Engineering Technology) where he studied a diploma course in the subject of plastic engineering.

In October 2020 Rahul started working as a quality engineer after passing with a distinction mark from CIPET. He got employed at a multi-national company in Assam's Guwahati city.

Rahul was not happy with his job as his dreams were different from what he was doing at that time. He had always dreamt of becoming a doctor so he left the job and started preparing for NEET.

He used to help his mother in her shop and also make out time to study. In an interview, Rahul mentioned that it was difficult to afford a helper for his mother in the shop therefore he made tea and sold it along with her and sometimes he would sit down in the shop to study.

Rahul studied the entire night during his preparation for NEET. He also expressed his gratitude to those who helped him when it was needed the most. He mentioned Mantu Kumar the owner of the land where Rahul's mother is running the shop for rent. Mantu never took rent from Rahul and his mother instead he booked the Delhi tickets for Rahul.

Meanwhile, on Friday 4 February Assam Chief Minister announced that the state government will take responsibility for all the educational expenses required for Rahul Das to pursue further studies.
