Teacher and cultural activist Bikash Baruah passes away in Demow

GAURISAGAR: Bikash Baruah, a resident of Jhanji Jaradhara village and subject teacher of Deoraja People's HS School in Sivasagar district, passed away at Sukafa Multinational Super-specialty Hospital, Rajabari, Demow due to post-COVID complication. He was 56.

Bikash Baruah, a popular cultural activist, actor and social worker had been undergoing treatment in the hospital since September 13 after he tested positive for COVID. Later, his COVID test result came negative but he breathed his last at the hospital due to post-COVID complications.

People from all walks of life gathered at his residence and paid homage to him. Before cremation, a tribute function was held where Bikash Chalia, Principal of the school, paid rich tribute on behalf of the school fraternity. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a host of relatives.
