TINSUKIA: The frontline organizations of school teachers-the All Assam Recognized M E Teachers' Association, 2005-06 (AARMETA 2005-06) and Asom O-Pradeshikrita Shikshanusthan Suraksha Mancha (AOSSM) - have demanded the government to publish the list of the provincialized schools on or before November 14, besides withdrawing letters of recognition issued in January 2006 and to treat both the lists at par with 2005, failing which they have threatened to launch massive and continuous agitation.

Both the teachers' bodies jointly organized a public meeting on Sunday at Nagaon ME School on the outskirts of Makum in Tinsukia district to discuss the long-pending issue of provincialization of the educational institutions of the State. The meeting chaired by Pradip Kumar Moran, president of AOSSM urged the government to provincialize the posts of Upper Primary Schools on 5 + 1 (5 teachers and 1 fourth grade) basis. The organizations contended that though many schools were recognized by the government w.e.f. 01.01.2005, some schools among the provincialized schools received the letters of recognition in January 2005 itself while the government issued another list in 2006. The contention arose after the government decided to provincialize those schools which received the letter of recognition within December 31, 2005 and declined to honour the second list issued in 2006.
