Teachers’ Body Welcomes New Secondary Education Service Rule, 2019

Biswanath Chariali: Assam Madhyamik Sikshak aru Karmachari Santha, the premier organization of the secondary teachers of the State, welcomed the new Provincialized Secondary Education Service Rule, 2019 and expressed hope that it would stabilize the educational scenario and also give due respect and honour to the senior and experienced teachers of the high schools. This was thoroughly discussed in an executive meeting of the teachers’ body held on Sunday at Barpeta District Karmachari Parishad Bhavan.

In a press release signed by Gobinda Chandra Kalita and Bhuvaneswar Nath, general secretary and president respectively of the association, observed that secondary education in the State was going to undergo a drastic change as soon as the new service rule came into effect and it would do away with the obstacles in appointing headmasters in high schools.

According to the new rule, a district-level selection list will be prepared from amongst the qualified senior teachers and accordingly the vacant posts of headmasters will be filled up. In this respect, the Inspector of Schools concerned will have the supreme power to appoint and transfer assistant teachers in the high schools. The meeting also urged the State Education Department to appoint vice-principals in the higher secondary schools and to regularize the service of the Additional Contractual Teachers working in the high schools.
