'Teachers Have to play major role in transforming society' Says Rihon Daimari

UDALGURI: "The teachers' community has to play a significant role in society to transform people's attitude for development. Each and every teacher must understand his/her pivotal role in society," said State PHE Minister Rihon Daimari while addressing the 58th Teachers' Day celebration at Udalguri HS School.

The meeting was chaired by Tridip Daimari, the Speaker of BTC, and anchored by Ganesh Mochahari, secretary of Udalguri district Academic Council. The meeting was inaugurated by Tarapati Upadhyaya, renowned scholar. Bhaben Deuri, the Inspector of Schools, welcome the retired teachers and other selected best teachers of the district and requested them to continue working for the development of society. Dr Jugal Bora, the former Principal of Nehru Ucchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Gohapur was the appointed speaker and spoke about the educational philosophy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Nareswar Deka, the national award winning teacher, also addressed the meeting.

Around 187 retired teachers were felicitated while 10 teachers were given best teacher award for their outstanding contribution to education. The students of Udalguri H S School presented the opening song while Bodo and Nepali dance performed by the students enthralled the audience.
