MANGALDAI: "Teaching is the oldest profession of the world and it is regarded as the mother of all professions. The teachers should love this profession without any condition and they should not take this profession only for the salary," said the chairman of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) Rukma Gohain Barua while addressing the 19th biennial conference of Darrang District Higher Secondary Teachers and Employees' Association (DDHSTEA) at Outala HS School near here on Friday.Associate Professor of Sipajhar College, Dr Prasanna Kumar Nath inaugurated the open session which was presided over by former president of DDHSTEA, Amanul Pasa. Mangaldai legislator Basanta Das, while taking part in the , laid stress on the need of imparting spiritual education only to shape and mould the human resources in the proper way.
Addressing the open session, senior journalist Bhargab Kumar Das laid stress on the need for teaching the students on the forgotten glorious historic events of Darrang district only to encourage and inspire the students to know their roots properly and the heritage of the district. He also appealed the teachers to lay stress on motivating the students in taking up agriculture and other vocational streams as their profession. In the function anchored by Hitesh Hazarika, secretary of Assam Higher Secondary Teachers and Employees' Association Jiten Hazarika spoke on the new pension policy of the government and other problems and issues relating to the teachers and the employees.
