Teaching programme initiated during lockdown in North Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The outbreak of novel coronavirus and the ongoing nationwide lockdown subsequently initiated in order to contain the pandemic contagion has adversely affected the student community causing disruption in teaching-learning activities as educational institutions have been closed for over a month across the State.

Pranjit Gogoi, the president of North Lakhimpur regional unit of All Assam Students’ Union, has initiated a teaching programme among the students under Putapukhuri area in North Lakhimpur subdivision so that they are not deprived from regular learning. Pranjit Gogoi said that the programme had been conducted strictly maintaining social distancing and providing face masks and hand sanitizers to the students. Students from Class I to Class X under the area have been taking part in the programme.

Research student of Statistics of Dibrugarh University, Karuna Gogoi, research student of Anthropology of Gauhati University, Jogesh Dihingia, science teacher Jiten Gohain, subject teacher Sanjib Gohain and Pranjit Gogoi himself have been teaching the students. In the programme, awareness programme to fight against the pandemic has also been conducted. The programme will continue till the academic institutions reopen.
