JAMUGURIHAT: A day-long programme of the Teej festival, organised by the Samridhi Mahila Gosthi, was held in the Lakhangarh auditorium on Sunday. The programme began with some Gorkha traditional festivals. The open session was headed by Anu Boral, president of Samridhi Mahila Gosthi, with the illumination of earthen lamps by Tanka Maya Devi, followed by a chorus. The open session was inaugurated by Dimbeswari Devi, a veteran social worker. The open session was addressed by Gita Devi, Rita Devi, and Ranjita Devi as appointed speakers. During the address, all the speakers traced the origin of the Teej festival and its significance. Anju Devi, secretary of Samridhi Mahila Gosthi, read out the secretaries proceedings. Gita Devi, a senior member, offered a vote of thanks. The event was attended by dignitaries and eminent personalities from the greater Samar Dalani area. The event came to an end with a prize distribution ceremony.
