Teenager Arrested For Rape And Murder Of 6 Year Old In Assam's Hailakandi

GUWAHATI: In a recent shocking incident in the Hailakandi district of Assam, a 6-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then murdered by a 15-year-old teenage boy.

The incident took place in the Sulranicherra area that comes under the Hailakandi district of Assam. It is reported that the two got involved in a fight and the boy allegedly took the girl to the forest area sexually assaulted her and killed her there.

As per information from various sources, the victim girl was found missing on 9 February and people were looking for her.

On Saturday 12 February the dead body of the girl was recovered by Hailakandi police after 3 days of search.

On 9 February the girl was playing in her neighbourhood with other children of the same locality before she disappeared as informed by police officials on the basis of the initial investigation.

Gaurav Upadhyay the SP (superintendent of police) Hailakandi district informed that the dead body of the girl was found in a forest area close to Sulranicherra. Police stated that the girl had severe injuries before she died.

The body was then sent to the Hailakandi Civil Hospital by the officials for the post mortem report and other medical examinations.

However, the police succeeded in finding the accused and then arrested him. He is charged with several relevant and serious IPC sections including Section 302 and Sections of Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Officials said that as the accused is a minor the rape and murder case will be handled as per the Juvenile Justice Act. An autopsy report has been further awaited for other information about the case.

Police said that the minor boy of 15 years old has admitted his crime and told everything about the incident and its occurrences in detail to the police.

Police also arrested the father of the accused boy for helping his son in committing such a heinous crime. The father also allegedly tried to destroy all evidence that could prove the rape and murder of the girl.
