Teer agents held by Sonitpur police

TEZPUR: Sonitpur police, in an operation against teer agents in Sonitpur district, arrested five teer and gambling agents. Police officials said a series of search operations were conducted in Borghat area by Sonitpur Police led by Sudhanya Suklabadya DSP(B). In a raid conducted at a pan shop of Sunil Karmakar (40), No 2 Dolabari area under Tezpur PS, police seized 14 teer ticket books and cash.

In another raid at a pan shop of Dilip Chakraborty (35), Tinimile Chotoichapori area under Tezpur PS, three teer ticket books, carbon papers and cash were recovered.

Later, another operation was conducted at a stationery shop of Atul Chakraborty (49) in Tinimile area under Tezpur PS where two mobile handsets containing teer gambling results, two teer ticket books, one teer chart carbon and cash were recovered.

On Friday, another operation conducted by OC Jamuguri PS, during which two persons involved in teer gambling, identified as Mohan Sahu and Jayanta Das of Kusumtola village, were apprehended and cash amounting to Rs 3,910 along with notebooks containing teer results and other incriminating documents were recovered.
