KOKRAJHAR: A total of 10 nominations were filed by 8 candidates for 31-Sidli (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) in Chirang election district till Friday. The filing of nomination papers for the third phase election ended here also on Friday at 3 PM with four candidates, namely Ranjay Kumar Brahma (JDU), Smriti Basumatary (Ind), Joseph Basumatary (Ind) and Bubul Das (Ind) filing their nomination papers on the last day for filing of nomination.

The other candidates who submitted their nomination papers earlier to the Returning Officer of 31- Sidli (ST) LAC, Gautam Talukdar, include sitting MLA and Assam Minister Chandan Brahma of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), Joyanta Basumatary of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), Manamati Goyary of the Voters Party International (VPI) and one independent candidate- Jisoya Champramary.

The Sidli assembly seat comprises of 362 polling stations spread across the Kajalgaon Sadar Subdivision with 9 zones and 27 sectors. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Chirang district, GautamTalukdar, who accepted the nomination papers as Returning Officer of the said constituency, said that he had received nominations from both political parties and individuals, but the exact number of eligible candidates would be known only after scrutiny and withdrawals. During the process, he asked all the candidates and their agents to attend the scrutiny of nomination papers scheduled to be held on March 20 at 11AM in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office at Kajalgaon.
