TEZPUR: Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rabha on Tuesday inaugurated a 'Khela Ghar', a game zone at Chitralekha Udyan in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das, vice-chairman AMTRON, Ritubaran Sarmah, DDC Dipsikha Dey, ADC and Secretary of Tezpur Environment Society, Romy Baruah, and other members of the Tezpur Environment Society and district administration officials.

The game zone has been started as part of a special initiative of DC Bhupesh Chandra Das to provide recreational facilities for young children.

A beautifully landscaped park in the heart of Tezpur filled with greenery is itself a heaven for those in search of peace and tranquillity. This beautiful landscaped park is filled with grassy mounds, trees, flower beds, modern swimming pool, a U shaped pond and an artistically arranged good number of ancient stone sculptures. Chitralekha Udyan is one of the favourite tourist spots located in the exact centre in Sonitpur district in Assam. After independence the Government of Assam under Indian Government undertook the management and administration of the park. It is also the site of two popular stone ornamented pillars of the Bamuni Hills. The prime attraction of the park is the two majestic pillar constructions in stone with exceptional carvings that is believed to be the remains of Bamuni hills built during the 9th century. Now, visitors can avail the gaming zone facilities for a nominal charge against each game during their visit to Chitralekha Udyan. The gaming zone has modern gaming facilities, including VR games, basketball, car racing, shooting games, air hockey, and others. Moreover, the MLA also inaugurated the boating facility at the park, which has been started for the visitors.
