Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das reviews steps taken to implement lockdown guidelines

Tezpur: Member of Parliament for Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das on Friday chaired a review meeting in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh and other senior district administration officials and heads of various departments where he reviewed the steps taken by the district administration to enforce the lockdown and ensure supply of essential commodities to the people. The meeting was held at District Library auditorium in Tezpur.

In the very beginning MP Pallab Lochan Das reviewed the distribution of free PDS rice to people covered under NFSA and the process of distribution of Rs.1000 to non-ration card holder families and directed the Deputy Director, Food and Civil Supplies to ensure home delivery of rice through GPSS and ensure that no shopkeeper charged more from the customers than the rate fixed by the district administration in case of essential commodities. He also asked all Block Development Officers present to identify all Fair Price Shops under their jurisdiction and deploy panchayat representatives to ensure proper distribution of food material and keep an eye out so that all norms of the lockdown such as social distancing and hygiene practices were strictly being adhered to.

Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh said legal action would be initiated against any FPS shopkeeper found violating orders issued by the administration.

MP Das also reviewed the supply process of vegetables in the district and asked the District Agriculture Officer to ensure supply to tea garden areas. He asked the tea garden managements to assess the requirement in their respective areas and submit the same to the DAO. Moreover, he asked the health department officials to ensure adequate stock of all medicines in the district and stressed creating more awareness about COVID-19 in the tea garden areas such as hand washing and other hygienic practices. He also asked the district administration to carry out extensive sanitization of all public places, including tea gardens.
