The educational system should focus on moulding character rather than producing only professionals: Ranjit Kakati

LAKHIMPUR: “The educational courses and the system should focus on moulding character rather than producing just professionals. The educational system must have the capability of developing the heart with human values in the true sense. We need such an educational course, adjusting with the contemporary time, by which each an every potential of the students and the divinity within them can be manifested for their future life,” stated writer-journalist Ranjit Kakati in Lakhimpur on Friday. He said so while taking part as a chief resource persons in the symposium organized on the occasion of the concluding ceremony of of the golden jubilee festival of Lakhimpur Collegiate Model High School.

Delivering an elaborate speech on the topic of the symposium – “The importance of shaping the future life of students and present educational course of the school”, he stated that the education system must be a guide to the students to enable them to choose their line of interest instead of the undue pressure by parents and guardians.

“This it will enhance them to realize self-esteem and will teach the lessons of self-management to control ones nature during time of adversities and problems”, he added.

The symposium was chaired by retired Lakhimpur District Elementary Education Officer Jivan Chandra Dutta who laid stress on the further research on the present educational system for its enhancement. Noted academician Padmeswar Chutia inaugurated the symposium in which vice-principal of Arunachal Pradesh Doimukh HS School Aisena Tang also took part as resource person. Aisena Tang extended her discussion on the topic highlighting various requirements and aspects to turn an educational system to be perfect one. Notably, the concluding ceremony of the prominent academic institution of Lakhimpur district which is enriched with shining history of fifty glorious years, kicked off on Friday with the unfurling of golden jubilee flag by celebration committee president-cum-Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta.

He appealed to the teachers and authority of the school to provide their students such a education by which they could shape their conduct by thinking what is right. It was followed by smriti tarpan administered by former headmaster Binanda Chandra Borgohain, plantation drive inaugurated by former headmaster Jadu Kumar Das, inauguration of Durga Prashad Deka Memorial Park by Padmeswar Chutia, inauguration of the statues of freedom fighter Mahananda Borah, founder headmaster Bimal Hazarika and Krishna Deka.

MLA Utpal Dutta inaugurated the golden jubilee gate of the school while the auditorium was inaugurated by MP Pradan Baruah. Ex-student Mridul Burhagohain chaired the alumni session. Retired Deputy Inspector of Schools Kanakeswar Deka Rajkonwar inaugurated the cultural function and a bhaona named Suryaputra Karna staged at night in the memory of Pranab Burhagohain as part of cultural programme.
