JORHAT: “I have come to Assam several times with Bhupenda but this is my first visit to Majuli. I frequently keep on hearing about Majuli, the world’s largest river island and a unique storehouse of Vaishnava culture,” said melody queen Usha Mangeskar, during her media interaction at the Jorhat Airport after her arrival from Mumbai by an Indigo flight here on Saturday.

Usha Mangeskar will be taking part in the ongoing Majuli Youth Festival, 2020 that was kicked off on March 5 at Jengraimukh in Upper Majuli.

Mangeskar used to belt out her best numbers including a few of her songs with Bhupen Hazarika in the late 1970s, and 1980s. Mangeskar is being accompanied by her niece. At the Jorhat Airport, Mising dance troupes welcomed the octogenarian which highly pleased the melody queen who before leaving the airport sincerely thanked the Mising Bihu artists and also posed for photographs.
