Three arrested for illegal blood donation business in FAAMCH, Barpeta

BARPETA: Three persons were arrested for alleged involvement in illegal blood donation business. Among the arrested is also a laboratory assistant of the blood bank of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH). The arrested persons are— Chinmoy Das, son of Narayan Das, Ghoramarahati, Barpeta; Arman Khan and Shafiul Hussain, laboratory assistant of blood bank, FAAMCH. A group of brokers has been running this business in FAAMCH in a clandestine manner to make easy money. Blood donors were allured into donating blood. After the complaint letter against Chinmoy Das to the Deputy Commissioner and Barpeta Sadar police station, the Superintendent of FAAMCH, Dr Bobyjeet Goswami also lodged an FIR against Chinmoy Das.

A committee was also formed to inquire into the matter. Due to Chinmoy Das, one Satyajeet Das, who had to donate blood 2-3 times in a month, had to allegedly lose his life and another youth, Nayan Das is suffering from a serious ailment.

With the help of Shafiul, Chinmoy Das and Arman Khan were running this blood donation business very smoothly. On the basis of the complaint letter and FIR from FAAMCH, Barpeta Police brought Chinmoy Das for interrogation on Sunday and on Monday all three were arrested.
