DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Tinsukia Zila Sahitya Sewi Mancha (TZSSM), three books written by noted writer and former Subject Teacher Manjul Sarma were launched at a special programme held at Doomdooma Marwari Panchayati Bhawan on Friday. The programme was chaired by TZSSM president Atul Chandra Sharma. The first book titled "Anannya" which is a compilation of the biographies of eminent women across the world was formally inaugurated by the noted Assamese litterateur and former acting Vice - Chancellor, Tezpur University Dr. Madan Sarma while the second book titled "Asomor Barerahaniya Utsavr Samahar" (Second Edition) written on the various festivals celebrated in Assam was inaugurated by the noted Assamese litterateur and satirist Punya Saikia. The third book titled "Asom Ke Bichitra Utsavo Ka Samahar" which is the Hindi rendition of the second book was inaugurated by the Inspector of Schools, Tinsukia District Circle, Bitupon Hazarika.

Besides the inaugurators, the programme was also addressed by the Sahityacharyya Nahendra Padun, former Vice - Principal, Tinsukia College Anjana Goswami, the husband of the author and a former Vice-Principal, Doomdooma College Badan Sarma and the author of the books Manjul Sarma.

An audio CD of an Assamese modern song titled "Jiri Jiri" sung by noted singer Runumoni Dutta Bhuyan was also inaugurated in the programme by the TZSSM President Atul Chandra Sharma.

Earlier, the programme got underway with a Borgeet rendered by budding artiste from Digboi Sushri Achal Chamua. The programme was anchored by the Assistant Secretary of TZSSM Pallab Sharma while the Secretary, TZSSM Sarat Chandra Chiring Phukan offered the vote of thanks at the end. The programme was attended by a good number of writers, academicians, journalists, social activists of Tinsukia district as well as from Sivasagar also.
