NAGAON: The three-day-long Srimanta Sankardev Mahotsav organized jointly by Madhabdeb Nyas and Sri Sri Batadrava Than Parisalona Samittee at Bordowa, started on Friday.
This is the first such big initiative organized by two leading organization in the birth place of Srimanta Sankardeva. On Friday, an international seminar on the works of the Assamese cultural icon was held where more than 120 leading scholars from different parts of the country participated. Altogether 1,250 artistes from 33 districts of the State will be participating in the cultural programmes which are the highlights of the three-day long programme.
Six bhaonas of the cultural icon will be staged in three neighbouring xatras on Saturday and Sunday.
"State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accompanied by some government representatives, will take part in an open session on Sunday," said Mohotsav coordinator Brajen Kakoti.
