MANGALDAI: Darrang district administration for the first time has been compelled to close down the out-patient department (OPD) of the Mangaldai Civil Hospital with immediate effect after three more doctors on duty in the hospital tested COVID-19 positive on Monday morning and the Joint Director of Health Services has been asked to go on home quarantine. However, the OPD has temporarily been shifted to the Urban Health Centre at Shantipur here.

Talking to The Sentinel on Monday evening, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah said that three medicos named Dr. Binod Kalita, Dr. Jadu Moni Kataki and Dr. Har Jyoti Deka of Mangaldai Civil Hospital who were rendering their sincere service since the very beginning, tested positive and had been admitted in the isolation ward of the hospital.

To prevent the further spreading of the virus, the district administration took the decision to close down the OPD of the hospital. Significantly, following his contacts with all the three doctors, the district administration has also asked the Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Rup Lal Noonisa to go on home quarantine till the result of his swab sample test comes. Earlier, Dr. Jiten Saharia was also admitted in the COVID hospital.
