MANGALDAI: Darrang Police, led by Superintendent of Police Er Sushanta Biswa, in their continuing operation against anti-social elements, arrested three drugs peddlers at Patharighat Tiniali under Sipajhar Police Station on the afternoon of March 23 and recovered brown sugar contained in nine containers and seized one light vehicle bearing registration number AS-13 L 4546.

The arrested persons are Sayedur Rahman alias Ikbal (32), son of Samsuddin Ahmed of village Koikara, Patharighat in Darrang and Majibar Ali (24), son of Riyakot Ali of village Bordangrikuchi under Baihata Chariali Police Station of Kamrup district.

Both confessed that they collected the suspected brown sugar from one Nurun Nessa Begum of village Pub Par, Jotia Bhangra, Essar camp, Sutargaon under Baihata Chariali Police Station. The police, on being led by the both the accused persons, conducted a search in the residence of Nurun Nessa Begum and recovered nine containers containing brown sugar. The police brought the lady along with both apprehended persons and the seized drugs to the Police Station and registered a case at Sipajhar Police Station (Case No- 124/2022 under section 21 (b)/29 of NDPS Act.
