Of the three infected, two were under institutional quarantine facility at Polytechnic Institute and one at DIET quarantine centre. Following the rise in number of COVID-19 positive cases, the district administration has closed down all barber shops and parlours and weekly or haat markets with immediate effect until further orders.

Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer, District Disaster Management Authority, RK Dam informed that the administration had to take the steps to contain the spread of the disease in view of identification of some COVID-19 cases in the community. He further stated that all the owners and employees of barber shops would have to undergo swab tests and would have to remain in self-isolation till the swab results are out. The decision to close down barber shops and beauty parlours was taken after a barber named Dejou Chanda, 51, tested COVID-19 positive on Friday. Swab samples of persons with whom the barber came in contact with are being collected by the health workers. Vigorous contact tracing is on. It may be mentioned that a nurse and a policeman were found COVID-19 positive a few days ago.
