Three Of A Family Get Lifer For Murder, Says Additional District and Sessions Judge In Udalguri, Assam

TANGLA, July 26: In a significant judgement, the court of Nirmali Talukdar, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Udalguri, sentenced three members of a family to rigorous life imprisonment on Wednesday. Gyanendra Das, Chintarani Das and Utpal Das were accused in a murder case vide Kalaigaon PS case no.23/2012 under sections 341/302/34 of IPC. Reportedly, on the evening of March 18, 2012, one Sailendra Das was on his way back home on his bicycle when he was accosted by a group of unruly people armed with sticks and sharp weapons who brutally attacked him, leaving him in a critical state. He later succumbed to his injuries in Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Based on an FIR by the brother of the deceased, police registered a case and after investigation, arrested the three members of a family. After years of trial and verifying various grounds and evidences, the trio was convicted by the court.
