GUWAHATI: In yet another notable showcasing of woman-prowess, three Assam daughters have brought glory to the state by winning three top awards in a national-level fashion competition at Rajasthan.

According to reports, Jesika Deka, Urbarshi Saikia, and Jahnavi Saikia have recently participated in a fashion competition organized at Rajasthan called 'Supermodel of Rajasthan'.

In the competition, the Assam daughters have won the first three awards.

They went to Rajasthan to take participate in the competition under the leadership and guidance of Shahrukh Khan, the director of the Star Event along with famous Assam fashion choreographer Manas Jyoti Gogoi and Dance Choreographer Puja Malakar.

In the competition, around 700 contestants from the country participated. Upon their return to Assam, they were felicitated at the Rangia Rail Junction.

Notably, the Assam and its culture have gone far and wide in recent times.

Earlier, On the occasion of National Handloom Day, Bollywood fashionista and actress Chitrangadha Singh wore a beautiful pearl white Mekhela Chador designed by designer Sanjukta Dutta as a special tribute to the artisans for their hard work.

This pandemic is one of the most unfortunate events in human history which has affected the entire globe. It has hit everyone at different levels and worst being the daily wage earners in the handloom industry.

With many such celebrities coming up and supporting the artisans, this will surely boost their morale and increase hopes of the weavers to continue with their age-old craft thereby retaining skilled labour in the market. Also with many government initiatives being taken to revive the industry and increasing demand for handloom products, the revival prospects of the handloom industry are very bright and promising.
