Three rank holders in Science stream hails from different colleges in Tezpur

Tezpur: Three brilliant students from Tezpur brought laurels to Sonitpur district. Sayan Mazumdar from Darrang College secured first rank with total marks 478, Dishant Saikia from Dimension Academy Junior College came second with total marks 477 and Subhra Jyoti Paul from Darrang College came sixth with total mark 472 in the HS (Science) exam, 2019.

First rank holder Sayan Mazumdar scored 94 in English, 98 in Alternative English, 95 in Biology, 97 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics and 90 in Mathematics. His grand total of marks is 478. He was also the 4th position holder in the HSLC Examination, 2017. His father Chinmay Mazumdar is a private employee while mother Mitali Mazumdar is a housewife. They are residents of Ban Theater Road. He expressed his desire to become an astronaut. While talking to the media, Sayan said that his parents and college teachers had helped and motivated him to perform brilliantly. He also said, “We have to use mobile phone and internet efficiently. We can use the internet to learn new topics and get detailed knowledge related to our subjects.” He likes reading books.

Second rank holder Dishant Saikia scored 96 in English, 97 in Alternative English, 90 in Biology, 97 in Chemistry, 86 in Physics, 97 in Mathematics with a grand total of 477. He is the son of Bishnu Ranjan Saikia, a government employee, and Inamoni Phukan Saikia, a homemaker. He said that he was satisfied with his result and he planned to study at IIT and become an engineer.

Subhra Jyoti Paul scored 94 in English, 98 in Alternative English, 94 in Biology, 93 in Chemistry, 90 in Physics, 93 in Mathematics with a grand total of 472. His father Subhash Ch. Paul is a government employee and mother Mandira Paul is a house wife. He wants to take up Mechanical Engineering. He said that he put in 5 to 6 hours of regular study every day and there was no shortcut to success. He said that his parents, teachers and friends were behind his success.
