LAKHIMPUR: Three returnees from Mumbai tested positive for corona in Lakhimpur district on Tuesday. Two of them have been identified as Amrit Mishra (26) and his two-year old daughter, who stay at Banderdewa, while the other is Utpal Gogoi (38), resident of Raidangia village under Ghilamora area.

As per report, Amrit Mishra along with his daughter and his wife lived in Andheri in Mumbai and he worked in a private sector company. They returned to Lakhimpur by train on June 24 and reached Guwahati on June 26. They reached Lakhimpur by bus on June 27 and then they were quarantined at Hotel Marine at Banderdewa. On the same day their swab samples were collected at the health screening centre of Madhavdev University. They were shifted to the Dedicated COVID Health Centre (DCHC) set up at Boginadi Model Hospital after their swab test result came positive for coronavirus from Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). Though Amrit Mishra's wife tested negative for coronavirus, she was also admitted in the hospital with a view to attend to the minor child.

On the other hand, Utpal Gogoi was at Bonvel in Mumbai working with CFS company. He reached Lakhimpur on June 27 and was quarantined at North Bank College. He was also admitted in DCHC at Boginadi. With these three patients, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased up to 117 in Lakhimpur district. Out of them 79 patients were discharged while 38 are active cases.
