NUMALIGARH: A tiger carcass was found at Burapahar forest range of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Friday. KNP forest officials recovered the corpse near the Janata forest camp of the forest range and it is suspected that this two-year-old male tiger died one day earlier. The post-mortem of the carcass was conducted and the forest officials and veterinarians buried it.

KNP Director P. Shivakumar and DFO Ramesh Kr. Gogoi were present at the spot to ensure that the post-mortem and burial were completed as per guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). It was stated by veterinarian Dr Pranjit Basumatary that the carcass bore injuries, and all those injuries were inflcited during attack by another tiger. He also stated that the bones of the head of the tiger were also found broken. In the current year, it is the fourth tiger that has died in the Kaziranga National Park and tiger reserve that has been the pride of Assam.
