Timber and liquor seized by Special Squad of Dhubri Police

DHUBRI: Special Squad of Dhubri Police conducted a raid at Chotogoma on the basis of a secret input and recovered around 400 cubic feet of sawn sal timber worth rupees four lakh on Saturday night.

In this regard, one Hatem Ali of Chotoguma under Golakganj Police Station of Dhubri was arrested.

In an another raid conducted by police, two persons who are inhabitant of Golakganj town area were apprehended and around 1000 litres of illicit liquor from Raipara area under Golakganj Police Station were recovered in wee hours of Sunday. During the raid, the recovered quantity of illicit liquor along with six bicycles and bags containing the liquor were seized.

The two apprehended persons have been identified as Babulal Sarkar and Biswanath Ray.

Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri Deputy Superintendent of Police (Head Quarter), Trinayan Bhuyan informed that during initial investigation, it was learnt that the illicit liquor containing bags were brought from Bashbari area under Kazigaon Police Station of Kokrakhar district for the purpose of selling in Golakganj Bazar.
