Tinsukia Excise department seizes illicit liquor, two arrested

The excise department has intensified its operation against illicit liquor across Tinsukia district and seized huge quantity of liquor, both IMFL and country made, from different locations, besides apprehending two persons involved in illicit trade.

TINSUKIA: The excise department has intensified its operation against illicit liquor across Tinsukia district and seized huge quantity of liquor, both IMFL and country made, from different locations, besides apprehending two persons involved in illicit trade.

According to Manas Jyoti Nath, Superintendent of Excise, Tinsukia, the department during the period from February 26 to March 20 detected 149 cases and conducted 56 raids, besides 19 armed raids. During operation, the department seized Illicitly Distilled (ID) 3800 BL, F. Wash 41239 BL, D/A 80 numbers, IMFL374.265 BL, Beer 76.7 BL, IMFL (AP) 163.72 BL, Beer (AP) 269.90 BL, Country spirit 23.60BL, Molasses 785 kg and pachwai 760 kg. The day-night operation will be further intensified in rural and urban areas, including tea garden belts, informed Nath.
