Assam: 4 Arrested in Tinsukia for Massive Lottery Scam

GUWAHATI: Assam Police has made significant progress in tackling a major lottery scam reported in Tinsukia district by apprehending four individuals. The Tinsukia Police conducted a search operation in various locations in Sivasagar district, as well as in Moran in Dibrugarh and Teok in Jorhat. The lottery scam involved duping residents with the promise of luxury vehicles as prizes, resulting in the embezzlement of crores of rupees through fraudulent gift coupons.

The accused were apprehended in Sivasagar district, and during the operation, the police seized two luxury cars and important documents from their possession. The scam came to light on May 18 when individuals in Tinsukia fell victim to a fake scheme involving luxury vehicles. The fraudsters enticed unsuspecting victims by organizing coupon games allegedly in support of No. 2 Kadamani Namghar. The winners were announced without the knowledge of the general public, and the recipients' identities remained undisclosed.

It has been revealed that the Namghar Samiti, responsible for managing the spiritual center, had no knowledge of the gift coupons or their distribution. Consequently, the Tinsukia police launched a search operation to apprehend the organizers involved in the scam. The scope of the deceit extended beyond Tinsukia, as many individuals from Jorhat and Majuli also purchased these misleading gift coupons.

The search operation conducted by the police demonstrates their commitment to addressing this fraudulent activity and bringing the culprits to justice. By apprehending the four accused individuals, significant progress has been made in unraveling the intricate network behind the lottery scam. Additionally, the seizure of two luxury cars and important documents will serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The actions taken by Assam Police send a strong message that fraudulent schemes will not go unpunished in the state. The victims of the scam, who lost substantial amounts of money, can find solace in the fact that law enforcement agencies are actively working to resolve the case and ensure justice is served.

Efforts to curb such fraudulent activities should continue, not only through the apprehension of perpetrators but also by raising awareness among the general public about the dangers of falling prey to such scams. It is essential for individuals to exercise caution and skepticism when presented with offers that seem too good to be true, as scammers often exploit people's desire for easy gains.

As the investigation progresses, it is hoped that the authorities will uncover the full extent of the lottery scam, identify all those involved, and take appropriate legal action against them. The efforts of Assam Police in apprehending the four individuals involved in this scam are commendable, and it is crucial to continue promoting a safe and secure environment for all residents of the state.
