Tinsukia Police continues war on drugs, cache of drugs seized

TINSUKIA: Tinsukia police in their operations against drugs across the district during the past two days, made a significant breakthrough with the seizure of a cache of illicit drugs and cash, besides nabbing a few peddlers.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Doomdooma police and Raidang based CRPF personnel during search operation on Thursday at the residence of one Bijoy Paul of Hansara Chariali under Doomdooma PS, seized 220.61 gram of brown sugar, 15 kg of ganja and cash Rs 3.8 lakh from his possession. Police arrested Paul and further investigation is on.

On Wednesday, Tinsukia Sadar police led by TSI Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah and SI Kiran Dihingia conducted a search operation at the dwelling of one Gauranga Das of Jariguri under Tinsukia PS and recovered 27 kg ganja from his house. Though Gauranga Das escaped, the police detained one Mantu Gowala for interrogation. Yet in another case on Friday, Tinsukia Sadar police apprehended Rajib Moran (35) of Borachuk of Kakopathar PS and recovered 25 grams of suspected brown sugar from his possession.
