MORIGAON: The Tiwa Jatiya Aikya Manch recently organized a special convention at Morigaon District Library. In the convention, few proposals were taken after thorough discussion and a review with the central executive body. The leaders of the All Tiwa Students’ Union, All Tiwa Women Association, Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad, Tiwa Cultural Society, and Tiwa Protection Committee were present in the convention. The convention decided to provide full support to the democratic protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act across the State. Tiwa Jatiya Aikya Manch also decided to press for the inclusion of the Tiwa Autonomous Council in the Sixth Schedule list and to get a mandate in support of autonomous status demand for each indigenous tribe by extending the Constitution’s Article Section 371(B) to all indigenous people living in the Brahmaputra valley.
