GUWAHATI: Tollywood actor Ram Charan has emerged as one of the major promoters of the development of Assam by supporting the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment summit organized in Guwahati on February 25 and 26, 2025.
Graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit was a success in attracting investments worth Rs. 4.91 lakh crore, which will be a gigantic boost to the development of Assam in diverse sectors like energy, tourism and infrastructure.
On X, Ram Charan praised Greenko's Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli for their dedication to clean energy, especially their significant Rs. 5,850 crore investment in Assam's renewable energy projects.
Responding to the actor's praise, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma replied by inviting Ram Charan to visit the state and discover its prospects and rich heritage, to which the actor replied with enthusiasm, further elevating Assam’s profile on a national level.
The summit received global attention, with Japan's The Asahi Shimbun reporting Assam's strategic approach to attracting international investors. Singapore's The Straits Times described the summit as a "game-changer" for Northeast India, underlining its ability to promote regional connectivity and economic integration in the ASEAN system.
Ram Charan's association with Assam began in 2017 when he came to Guwahati to promote his movie Dhruva and endorsed the "Aid for Assam Flood" campaign. His participation in Advantage Assam 2.0 brings a cultural aspect to the economic story, setting Assam up for a revolutionary era of development that combines economic progress with cultural pride.
