Failure to Renew Trade Licenses Will Lead to Sealing of Businesses: GMC

GUWAHATI: According to information released on Thursday by the Guwahati Municipal Council (GMC), around 54,400 commercial firms in Guwahati have not yet renewed their trade permits.

"The appropriate business houses have already been informed. We'll seal these homes if they don't renew their permits by March 31 of this year," MN Dahal, the GMC commissioner, told the media.

"The Corporation has received Rs 27 crore in trade license fees for the current fiscal year. In contrast to the 54000 defaulters who have not renewed their licenses, there are 71000 trade licenses registered with the GMC. All the defaulters are requested to renew their licenses by March 31, 2023," read a statement that the GMC released.

Many showrooms and various branded outlets, he continued, have not yet renewed or applied for trade licenses. This was discovered during a survey. Due to a lack of valid business licenses in the city, GMC recently closed over 12 high-end and mid-end outlets and enterprises.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) announced in a press statement on March 6 that the supply of potable water to regions served by the Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) will end on March 31, 2023.

This choice was made in response to the GMC's old water supply schemes, which have experienced considerable output reductions and frequent outages.

All water supply users in these locations are being urged by the GMC to choose a new water connection from the GJB as soon as feasible. Families can request online access to the GJB (Guwahati Jal Board) app or the website www.gmdwsb.in through the Google Play Store.

For additional information on how to get a new water connection, residents are recommended to get in touch with the GJB. Customers have been reassured by the GJB that they will make every effort to ensure a seamless changeover and continuous water delivery.
