DHUBRI: Five-day training on Hudum folk dance of the Koch Rajbangshi community was held from October 18 to October 22 under the auspices of Gauripur Cultural Centre at Gauripur.

Altogether, 60 participants took part in the training programme from various parts of western Assam. Training on Hudum folk dance was conducted and imparted by exponents in the folk dance, Ashok Chakrabortty , Babul Roy and Maya Rani Sarkar. This particular dance is performed by the women of the Koch Rajbangshi community when there is drought to please the Rain God for showering rain so that paddy can be cultivated in the fields and the community is saved from starvation. In the concluding function, welcome speech was delivered by Cultural Development Officer Jiten Das. Hudum folk dance was performed by the participants in the function.
