Training on mat nursery and paddy transplanter held at Tezpur

Tezpur: A day-long technical training programme on mat nursery and mechanical paddy transplanted for summer paddy demonstration was held at farmer’s field of Ghanasyam Nath at Da-Besseria village under Gabharu Block in Sonitpur district on Saturday.
The programme was organized by District Agriculture Office, Sonitpur in association with APART. A Mat nursery was prepared by Ghanasyam Nath under the technical guidance of Nilanjan Saikia , BTM ATMA, DAO Sonitpur. This program was inaugurated by Prakash Chandra Borah, DAO, Sonitpur, in the presence of Ranjan Deka, Nodal Officer APART, Sonitpur among others.
During the programme, Pankaj Barman from International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) demonstrated the paddy transplanter with help of Pankaj Baruah and Gautam Borah, Research Technician, APART Sonitpur.
BTM Nilanjan Saikia said that IRRI had provided Bina Dhan 11 under APART demonstration programme and it was suitable for the farmers of Assam.
It could be grown both in summer and winter as it was a stress-tolerant variety and it could survive upto two weeks under flooded condition.
