Kokrajhar: A special training program on coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was held on Sunday under the aegis of Diistrict Health Society, Chirang in the conference hall of the Bodoland Guest House. The training was attended by Dr. Banmali Dutta, Pathologist, Dr.Debodeep Kalita, Community Medicine specialist and Dr Swapna Kakati, Community Medicine specialist, all from Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, Barpeta as resource persons.

During the training period, total 65 trainees, which included doctors, staff nurses, laboratory technicians, pharmacists and cleaners, were imparted training in three batches with the help of power-point presentation. They were imparted training on maintaining social distancing, proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits and guidelines for handling, treatment and disposal of waste generated during the treatment of coronavirus-infected patient.

The training was formally inaugurated by Joint Director, Health Services, Chirang, Ratul Chandra Bordoloi in the presence of Gautam Talukdar, Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, and other senior doctors of Chirang district.

As on Sunday, five suspected patients have been put into isolation ward and out of 1,824 home-quarantined people, 1,233 have completed the home quarantine period without any sign and symptom of coronavirus in Chirang district.
