HAFLONG: Dilip Nunisa, president of Halali Progressive Welfare Society, said that the Society strongly criticized the 'double-standard policy' of the government as instead of arresting DSP SK Morang, he was transferred to Katlichera in Hailakandi district of Assam during the 36-hour Dimaraji bandh.

Nunisa said, "The transfer of Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) is not the answer to our demand. We demand CBI enquiry into the killing of Santosh Hojai and punishment to the culprits involved in this brutal killing."

Dima Hasao SP Bir Bikram Gogoi and DSP Surya Kanta Morang have been transferred. Bir Bikram Gogoi has been transferred and posted as commanded 23rd AP (IR), Karbi Anglong and Surya Kanta Morang has been transferred and posted as the DSP of the 21st Assam Police (IR) Battalion in Katlichera of Hailakandi district.

Meanwhile, Borkhiri Terang has been posted and transferred as the DSP of Dima Hasao district. Reacting to the government's order of transfer of Dima Hasao SP Bir Bikram Gogoi and DSP Surya Kanta Morang, Jadikhe Naisho Hosom working president Ranjoal Hakmosa said, "We have been demanding justice in the kidnapping and killing of Santosh Hojai but the government, instead of delivering justice, has transferred the SP and DSP."

Dimasa Students' Union, (DSU) general secretary Pramith Sengyung condemned the government transfer order of the SP and DSP while saying that transfer of SP and DSP at this juncture was not justified as they were demanding CBI enquiry into Santosh Hojai's kidnapping and killing and Hojai's wife had alleged the DSP's involvement in the FIR lodged at Harangajao Police Station. He said they would intensify their agitation soon.

Uttam Langthasa, president of All Dimasa Students' Union (ADSU) Dima Hasao district committee, was also of the opinion that the government should not transfer both the SP and DSP as the public was demanding CBI enquiry and exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in the killing of Hojai. Langthasa also said that the transfer of the SP and DSP was mere eyewash. He added that people could continue to raise their voice against the injustice. The HPWS Haflong will stage sit-in in front the DC's office Haflong, demanding immediate arrest of accused DSP SK Morang, and immediate implementation of the Memorandum of Settlement signed between the governments of Assam and India and DHD on October 8, 2012.
