Transport Commissioner Inspects Accident Site in Thowra, Demow

DEMOW: Following the direction of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to conduct probe into the accident that took place near Demow in Thowra on Monday morning at NH-37 Road where 9 passengers died and several others were injured, on Tuesday Transport Commissioner Birendra Mittal, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr.Lakshmananan S, Sanjib Hazarika, District Transport Officer, and Amitabh Sinha, Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar district, inspected the accident area, road condition and also had a discussion with the eyewitness of the incident. After that they talked with Pradip Dehingia, a resident of Demow Konwar Dehingia Gaon, who had a lucky escape, about how the accident took place. Pradip Borgohain said that due to the fault of the driver of the Traveller the tragic road accident. He said that the driver was driving the vehicle at a high speed while talking over the phone. Later, the high-level officers inspected the damaged Traveller which was kept in Demow Police Station. Transport Commissioner Birendra Mittal has instructed for an investigation into the documents of both the vehicles.
